The history of Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples isn’t just Canadian history; it’s the history of this land before Canada existed. It reminds us that thriving nations, cultures, and languages were here long before Canada was founded.
This week’s articles once again highlight the journey forward in partnership to grow Canada for the benefit of future generations. Also, there are some articles that remind us that more has to be done on our path of reconciliation. The truth about residential schools, the 60’s scoop, broken treaties, stolen lands and the resilience of Aboriginal Peoples does not diminish Canada. It makes Canada’s story honest. Honesty is something we as a democracy should be strong enough to withstand.
